High hopes after ganja march

THREE-TIME Grammy winner Bunny Wailer, singer Denroy Morgan and members of the Mystic Revealers band were among the artistes who participated in Saturday's Global Ganja Motorcade/March.

The 74-kilometre trek from Emancipation Square in Spanish Town, St Catherine to Goodyear Oval in Morant Bay, St Thomas was reminiscent of the 1865 march of Jamaica's National Hero Paul Bogle.

"The motorcade was well supported with 40 to 50 vehicles," Maxine Stowe, music insider and ganja legalisation advocate, told the Jamaica Observer.

The Global Ganja Motorcade/March is Wailer's latest attempt to shed light on recent changes in Jamaican law regarding the use and production of marijuana.

The first was in 1996, while the second was on April 20 last year.

Hawaii: Bill to Establish Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Passes Committee

After negotiators failed to strike a deal Friday night, legislative leaders removed Senate Committee Chairman Josh Green and pushed the deadline to Monday.

A Senate-House conference committee approved a bill Monday to establish a medical marijuana dispensary system, to the delight of advocates who thought the measure was a lost cause Friday night.

House Bill 321 now goes to the full House and Senate to be voted on before the legislative session ends Thursday. If it passes the Legislature, it will head to the governor’s desk.

The final version of the measure would allow medical marijuana dispensaries to be operating by July 15, 2016.

ACLU Files Medical Marijuana Employment Lawsuit In Rhode Island

I have never been fired from a job before, but I’d imagine it sucks very badly. I have quit jobs in the past, but I’ve never been terminated. If I was terminated for being a horrible employee, then I think I would be more accepting. But if I was fired for something that was unfair, I would be very upset about it. For instance, if I was fired for using a medicine that is legal in the state that I worked in, I would be extremely upset.

Illinois medical marijuana won't be OK for anxiety, diabetes

An Illinois advisory board has voted against recommending that anxiety and diabetes be added to the list of qualifying conditions for medical marijuana.

The vote at a public hearing in Chicago is one of several votes expected Monday on various conditions submitted by public petition. Board members said anxiety was too broad, but left open the possibility of adding severe anxiety to the list in the future.

The board approved the use of medical marijuana for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome by a vote of 10-0 and the treatment of migraines by a vote of 8-2. The board also approved medical marijuana for patients with diabetic and peripheral neuropathy, osteoarthritis and polycystic kidney disease.
