Consuming weed can offer immediate relief of depression symptoms

The lion’s share of people with symptoms of depression who consumed common and commercially available cannabis to cope reported anti-depressant effects, at least in the short term, notes a new study out of the United States.

In fact, “95.8 per cent of users experienced symptom relief following consumption with an average symptom intensity reduction of -3.76 points on a 0-10 visual analogue scale,” reports the study published last month in the Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine.

Survey: MS Patients Using Cannabis Medicinally

A survey of more than 1,000 people with multiple sclerosis has found extensive use of complementary and alternative medicine – including the use of cannabis.

Researchers at Oregon Health & Science University conducted the survey of MS patients in Oregon and Southwest Washington in 2018, with the results published in the journal Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders.

Around 30% reported they had used cannabis in a variety of forms and of those people, close to 71% found it “very beneficial”.

B.C. Interior First Nation eyes own cannabis operation for economic, medicinal benefit

A B.C. First Nation located in a semi-remote area on the Fraser River southwest of Williams Lake is exploring potential operations within the cannabis industry.

Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation (Canoe Creek/Dog Creek) Kukpi7 (Chief) Patrick Harry said the nation (SXFN) has signed a letter of intent with a B.C. First Nations company to explore cannabis production that would provide economic and medicinal benefits for his community.

“We still have some work to do but our nation is interested and I would say as a leader in my community I think I have a responsibility to explore the opportunity within the cannabis sector as we see the numbers across Canada are favourable,” he said.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the facility was closed from March 15, 2020. After this period, with Madrid moving forward to phase 2, they reopened its facilities with sanitary security measures. Due to these measures, the maximum capacity has been reduced from 60 to 8 people. The members must observe sanitary rules while using the facilities, such as, wearing a mask while they are in the club, that can be taken off while smoking. Shoes soles must be sanitized, and hands cleaned with hydroalcoholic gel upon entering. Members must keep 2 meters distance from each other and can only stay indoors for a maximum of 20 minutes.
