SideCar Launches Marijuana Delivery Service For San Francisco Residents

Ride-sharing company SideCar is planning on getting ahead of the competition by teaming up with local cannabis distributor Meadow to provide same-day medical marijuana deliveries to residents of San Francisco.

According to reports, the offer of special delivery will be much like SideCar's other transport services, wherein customers receive their package within an hour after making the order. Delivery requests will be made through the dispensary of San Francisco's Apothecarium.

"SideCar is able to power the on-demand economy, and medical marijuana is an example of all kinds of products we can deliver," Sunil Paul, SideCar co-founder and CEO, said. "The motivation is also that it's high profile."

Denver marijuana tax refund: Plan for city ballot measure passes first step

Denver voters in November may decide whether the city can keep its first-year haul from a 3.5 percent special recreational marijuana sales tax.

The city’s ballot question would join a likely statewide measure asking the same question about $58 million collected by the state last year from its separate marijuana tax. In Denver’s case, at stake is nearly $5.3 million.

A City Council committee approved the wording 5-0 Wednesday. The measure is expected to get the council’s final sign-off June 8.

Juicing Cannabis: Treat Marijuana As Dietary Essential

Nathaniel Morris and his wife Emily Aryn Morris are the founders of ProPlantWare, the platform for their movement, Rethink Cannabis.  We have all been tainted by the reputation that cannabis has attained over the last 80 years whether we realize it or not.  This movement is all about abandoning your pre-conceived notions, whether they are positive or negative.

“If we stop thinking about cannabis like a medicine, and start thinking about it like a food, the whole notion of how we approach it changes.” – Nathaniel Morris

Arizona: Yavapai County RICO Funds Paid for Anti-Marijuana-Legalization Effort

Sheila Polk, Yavapai County Attorney, wants to use more public funds to fight a planned cannabis legalization measure in Arizona.

A law-enforcement task force in Yavapai County cut a $50,000 check from RICO funds to a substance-abuse group dedicated to fighting marijuana legalization in Arizona, New Times has learned.

The deal between the Yavapai County-based Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) task force and MATFORCE was made soon after the Marijuana Policy Project announced it would launch a 2016 legalization campaign in Arizona — and more public funding against legalization could be on the way.

Marijuana for PTSD blasted by Erin O'Toole, veterans affairs minister

Marijuana has harmful effects and there's no proof it helps with post-traumatic stress disorder, says Veterans Affairs Minister Erin O'Toole.

"There's a number of voices out there suggesting it's a treatment for PTSD; there's no clinical support for that," O'Toole said Wednesday. "Certainly, there is some support for symptom relief for chronic pain or anxiety, some symptoms."

He spoke after a CBC News investigation revealed that nearly two-thirds of the money the federal government spent on medical marijuana last year went to veterans in Atlantic Canada — a region with about 14 per cent of the total number of veterans.

New federal bill on medical pot for epilepsy backed by Bennet, Gardner

Colorado’s U.S. senators, Michael Bennet and Cory Gardner, are backing federal legislation to allow children with seizures and adults with intractable epilepsy to have access to medical marijuana.

The proposed Therapeutic Hemp Medical Access Act would lift federal prohibitions across the country on using marijuana strains that are medically beneficial to prevent certain seizures.

Gardner, a Republican, and Bennet, a Democrat, announced the bill Wednesday with Democratic Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley of Oregon and Republican Sens. Orrin Hatch of Utah and Johnny Isakson of Georgia at the U.S. Capitol in Washington.
