"Legalise cannabis and ease my pain" – woman left in agony after immune system collapse

A WOMAN left in agony by the collapse of her immune system is calling for the legalisation of cannabis to end her suffering.

Bernadette McCready, 39, underwent a total hysterectomy four years ago after suffering uncontrollable rages, crippling abdominal pain and violent mood swings caused by a condition called premenstrual dysphoric disorder.

However, the operation sparked a reaction from her immune system, causing psoriasis all over her body and in her joints, as well as arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and liver disease.

Now, as MPs prepare to debate legalising cannabis after more than 200,000 people signed a petition, Ms McCready is appealing to be allowed cannabis on prescription.

Tasmanian mother using medicinal cannabis to treat daughter's seizures doesn't want part in NSW trial

A Tasmanian mother illegally using medicinal cannabis has ruled out participating in the New South Wales trial of the drug.

The Tasmanian Government is finalising its involvement in the trial and has offered to supply participants from the state.

However, that could prove difficult, with some parents who use the drug to treat their seriously ill children refusing to put them at risk.

Hobart mother Nicole Cowles treats her nine-year-old daughter Alice's life-threatening seizures with cannabis oil, even though it is illegal.

She will not allow her to be part of the trial.

Marijuana dependency increasingly concerning for Calgary youth rehab clinic

The growth of marijuana dependency is a troubling issue for Calgary’s youth, according to a director at a local clinic.

“It’s alarming to the point that we’re treating more marijuana dependent youth across North America than any other illicit drug combined,” said Dr. Jackie Smith at the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre, adding the majority of her clients are addicted to and dependent on pot.

Smith’s comments come on the heels of Canada’s changing political stance on weed, where Vancouver is selling it through dispensaries and the Liberals promise to legalize it, if elected.

“It’s just condoned and way more accessible now,” she said, adding kids who wake-and-bake miss classes and end up highly anxious when they don’t do the drug.

Could cannabis or Cannabidiol (CBD) cure acne?

Cannabis is known to be an efficient solution to serious dermatological conditions. Indeed, scientific studies have proven that cannabinoids as well as hemp seed oil have a positive impact on many issues, and can also improve overall skin quality.
Lately, Cannabis Sativa-based products have been considered a potential solution to patients suffering from one of the most common skin conditions, that affects millions across the world: acne. In particular, Cannabidiol (CBD) is at the centre of some medical studies focused on the role of cannabinoids as treatment for acne, as well as for a range of skin-related afflictions.

Australian family leaves home for life-changing cannabis oil treatments in B.C.

“Before the cannabis oil I obviously didn’t go to school very often, and just walking from our lounge room to my bedroom was a struggle,” said Tabetha.

“I would just walk around, get a little bit tired, and not really play that much,” said Georgia-Grace, who experienced  fatigue. “I’d sit on the couch and watch TV all day.”

Both were put on heavy doses of corticosteroids to keep the inflammation down and hooked up to oxygen tanks 24 hours a day.

While the steroids appeared to be the girls’ only option, Bobby-Jo said the drugs started causing even worse side effects for Tabetha.

German study: Runner's high triggers the same part of the brain as marijuana

Most people who run or work out regularly have experienced ‘runner’s high’.

It describes a feeling of euphoria after exercising, which is often combined with decreased anxiety and a higher tolerance to pain.

Now a new study has found it also provides a similar effect to smoking marijuana by triggering the brain’s cannabinoid receptors to relieve pain.

The study, led by the University of Hamburg and the University of Heidelberg, studied cannabinoid receptors in mice after running.

Previous research has suggested that runner’s high is caused by raised levels of beta-endorphins, which triggers the same effects as morphine.
