Let's get logical on medical cannabis

I came have been advocating for the introduction of medicinal cannabis for about 4 years.

I am a solo mother of five children and my eldest daughter, 17, suffers from Dravet syndrome, a intractable, life-limiting and progressive form of epilepsy where she would seizure up to 1000 times a day.

My daughter has been on dozens of medications. She has undergone a vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) implant - one of the first in New Zealand - which was ineffective, high dosages of steroids, and other more alternative treatments such as sacral massage and naturopathic remedies.

Pa. Medical Society 'updates' position on medicinal marijuana

“Physicians prefer thorough research before prescribing medications,” said Shapiro, an Abington cardiologist. “Obviously, this won’t please those who want the Medical Society to rubber stamp Senate Bill 3 or bills like it, but clearly there are many physicians who doubt that bill or any similar one is the right path to take and that compassionate care is best done through research-based programs that involve significant oversight and safety.

Researchers study differences in ischemic stroke in marijuana users

WASHINGTON (Oct. 26, 2015) -- A new study found strokes in young adults who use marijuana are more likely to be caused by stenosis, narrowing of the arteries, in the skull than strokes in non-users.

Previous studies have found an association between marijuana use and stroke, but the new study published today as a research letter in the Nov. 3 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology is the first to explore differences in stroke in marijuana users and non-users, an approach that can help researchers begin to identify possible mechanisms for stroke in users.

Stroke in marijuana users linked to arterial stenosis

Marijuana is known to be linked with stroke. A new study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology suggests that it causes a different kind of stroke than in non-marijuana users.
Marijuana users are at risk of stroke caused by arterial stenosis.

The new study, the first to investigate differences in stroke between marijuana users and non-users, found that ischemic strokes in young adults who use marijuana are more likely to result from stenosis, or narrowing of the arteries in the skull, than strokes in non-users.
