Marijuana for moms: The rise of cannabis wellness products

On Friday, marijuana enthusiasts celebrate 4-20. And this year, especially, they’ve got plenty to celebrate.

We are not only on the eve of legalization, but those who market, sell and advocate for cannabis say they are tapping into a whole new market of users, too: marijuana for moms.

Former food writer Devon Scoble, who enhances her cooking with cannabis-infused oils, says it’s all part of a living a healthier lifestyle.

“I really like to use coconut oil infusions,” she says. “I find they’re very versatile. You can use them in a variety of recipes and … you can also put them on your skin.”

Others, like Hightea podcast co-host Michelle Bilodeau, say they use the product to help treat a variety of issues like depression, anxiety and aches and pains.

Ottawa: CannaRoyalty buys California licensed cannabis producer FloraCal Farms

An Ottawa-based cannabis company has decided to take over a major California producer.

CannaRoyalty announced that it's buying FloraCal Farms in a cash and share swap.

FloraCal has a 15,000-square-foot facility in Sonoma County that produces plants in small batches. It claims that it generates an average selling price of more than US$17 per gram.

According to a joint news release, FloraCal is a sustainable producer relying 100 percent on renewable energy to produce seven cannabis flowers, rosin, and packaged pre-rolls.

The company has declared that it can achieve 28 percent to 32 percent THC content in its plants.

It generated US$6.4 million in revenue in the last fiscal year.

In the report, researchers said that alcohol was one of the most preventable risk factors in the development of nearly every type of dementia, including early onset. Aurora Cannabis gains rights to orally dissolvable thin film wafer technology

Aurora Cannabis Inc., CanniMed Therapeutics Inc. and CTT Pharmaceutical Holdings, Inc., announced today that further to the CanniMed/CTT news release of February 17, 2017, the companies have entered into a three-way agreement that provides Aurora, through its ownership of CanniMed, with joint exclusivity on the distribution in Canada of CTT's novel, patented drug delivery technologies.

This collaboration includes the licensing by CTT to CanniMed and Aurora of six patents related to cannabinoid delivery for pain management that will enable CanniMed and Aurora to exclusively develop and commercialize this unique, sub-lingual (beneath the tongue) wafer, drug delivery system in Canada.

Israel's Together gets Canadian deal for five tonnes of cannabis oil

Israel’s Together has agreed to sell 5 tonnes of cannabis oil to an unnamed Canadian company that will potentially bring revenue of hundreds of millions of shekels.

The Canadian company will buy from Together subsidiary Globus Pharma 50 tonnes of dried inflorescences of cannabis each year, which is equivalent to five tonnes of medical cannabis oil.

The two companies will also collaborate in the field of research and development and promoting technologies in the medical cannabis sector. They have estimated sales will amount to $3.17 to $4.7 per gram of inflorescence.
