Weekend Weirdness: SWAT Team Conducts Raid, Mistakes Organic Tomato Plants for Cannabis

Oh, police raids. With the number of times SWAT teams crack down on cannabis businesses (regardless of legality), you'd think they'd be able to recognize what an actual cannabis plant looks like. Alas, someone hasn't ascribed to the #JustSayKnow mantra, because a recent raid in Arlington, Texas came up short of cannabis but full of another versatile plant (so long as you're looking to make a BLT or a salad).

Support Marijuana Reform On Labor Day

Happy Labor Day! If you get a chance to talk to a marijuana industry laborer, thank them for their hard work. It’s not easy to work in the marijuana industry, where there are many grey areas and seemingly constant harassment by the government. I have had more than a few friends get arrested for working at a medical marijuana dispensary, and while they didn’t get charged, they did lose their jobs, which is always a bad thing.

Woman rings Esperance police to complain about lack of marijuana

Senior Sergeant Richard Moore with some of the cannabis taken off Esperance streets.

The Esperance Police Station received a rather unusual telephone call late Friday night when a local woman decided to vent her frustration over of the lack of cannabis around town.

Friday night is typically a busy night for local coppers. But they weren't expecting a complaint from an upset drug user.

Senior Sergeant Richard Moore said the concerned resident was irate and angry when discussing her point of view with the police officer who took the call.

It was believed the woman was intoxicated. In a heated exchange with the officer, she wanted it known to the Esperance police just how hard they had made it to purchase cannabis around town.

Jamaica Political Risk Analysis - Drug And Security Reforms Will Gradually Reduce Violence

BMI View: In the wake of major new legislative reforms in Jamaica's ongoing fight against gang activity , including adopting some of the most liberal marijuana laws in the world, further progress in reducing violence will continue, but remain gradual. Elevated crime will weigh on investor sentiment, partially offsetting the effects of the country's improving economic outlook .
