Another Pack Of Lies On Cannabis From The UK Government.

Yet another cannabis petition amongst hundreds of similar pleas was filed earlier this autumn.  This one though is more tightly focused on removing cannabis from schedule 1, which defines it as having no medicinal value.  The petition is also commendably concise but characterises itself as a ‘demand‘ that cannabis be rescheduled, an unfortunate choice of words.

Fresh Start Act moves forward without marijuana legalization

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A citizen-initiated law that would allow people convicted of crimes later made legal in Ohio will go before state lawmakers in January.

ResponsibleOhio, the political action committee behind marijuana legalization measure Issue 3, also proposed the "Fresh Start Act." The Fresh Start Act would allow people convicted of marijuana offenses to request that their criminal records be expunged, or destroyed, if state laws change to make those crimes no longer illegal.

TV Screen Shots Show Massive Number of Ohio's Marijuana Votes Flipping

Televised screen shots taken Tuesday night of live election returns in Ohio provided by the Secretary of State's office showed hundreds of thousands of votes flipping from the "yes" to "no" column of Issue 3, the ballot measure to legalize marijuana.

When seen against the backdrop of Ohio's longstanding history of Republicans manipulating the vote count to obtain the outcome they seek, such as in the 2004 presidential election when Ohio returns elected George W. Bush to a second term, there are compelling reasons to question the official result where the pot measure went down to defeat.

To understand the context for this likely chicanery, you have to understand the backdrop of current Ohio politics.

Western Australia parents treating children with medicinal marijuana illegally

Up to 100 West Australian parents are illegally using cannabis to treat children living with epilepsy, the chief executive of an epilepsy organisation says.

Epilepsy Association of WA (EAWA) chief executive Suresh Rajan said medicinal marijuana was being used extensively on WA children.

"I would have anything up to 80 to 100 mums that I know of in Western Australia who use it [on their children]. Illegally, I will emphasise, because it is not legal yet in Western Australia," he said.

Campaigners said there was evidence that cannabidiol, one of the compounds in marijuana, can stop seizures and boost the quality of life of those with epilepsy.

Inside the first-ever government-organized marijuana symposium

The number of conferences in the cannabis industry is almost on par with the ever-expanding music festival scene. With new conferences seemingly appearing on a weekly basis, deciding on the events worth the investment (money, time, bandwidth) can be difficult.

However, when a friend who works for the city and county of Denver’s Office of Marijuana Policy told me about a two-day symposium the city was holding for 420-situated regulators, I knew I had to attend.

Swedish drug rules violate human rights

Sweden's drug policies have come in for harsh criticism from the UN. Effective treatments against drug abuse, such as needle exchange programmes, are offered in only a few parts of the country, a new report says.

Sweden has one of the EU's most restrictive drug policies, with zero tolerance for drug use and possession. At the same time, the rate of drug-induced deaths is among the highest in the union, and they are on the rise.

Ohio's marijuana ballot issue lost but expect a sequel

Issue 3 – the proposed Ohio marijuana monopoly – suffered a jaw-dropping loss Tuesday. But that doesn't mean another Issue 3-like ballot issue won't surface again, maybe as soon as next year.

That's despite such startling facts as the rejection of Issue 3 in all 88 counties, even party-hearty Athens. Likewise, the Western Reserve's liberal citadel, Oberlin, voted against Issue 3. For that matter, Issue 3 lost in one of the four precincts in tie-dyed Yellow Springs.

Cyprus: Red tape denies dying cancer patient of medical cannabis relief

A 19-year-old cancer patient made three requests to receive medical cannabis but permission to use the drug was only given by the health minister a few days before he died.

The young man who died last Saturday had supported his requests with medical evidence as well as a doctor’s prescription as he needed the medicine for pain relief while receiving chemotherapy. As the use of medical cannabis is not allowed in Cyprus, he appealed directly to the health minister. The Cyprus Mail asked the health ministry why it took so long to sign the request.
