A Seller Of Marijuana-Related Domain Names Expects A Very Big Year

Drew Riegel makes a six-figure salary in the marijuana business without touching the plant, holding any physical inventory, or hiring any employees. Instead, he closely watches the development of the emerging industry, identifies the web domain names the players there might want, and buys them. Keeping about 1000 names at a time, he sells them to companies or individuals, through his web site MarijuanaNames.org. He keeps some names for himself and uses them to create web sites offering marijuana-related content that link to other web sites where customers can buy related products. Riegel receives a percentage of those sales revenues, a common internet practice called affiliate sales.

HempCon marijuana festival dabbed out of San Jose

SAN JOSE -- Just as "America's largest medical marijuana festival" was about to light up the convention center this weekend, it went up in smoke -- and moved to Daly City's Cow Palace.

San Jose officials revoked HempCon's convention center contract last week, saying the marijuana trade show runs afoul of local law.

"Taken together, local law says no sales, transfer, or use is legal at the convention center," explained city spokesman David Vossbrink.

Talk about a bummer. A HempCon organizer who goes only by Contessa T., or "Tess," confirmed in an email that "due to San Jose ordinances we were forced to move the show at the last minute to San Francisco. There will be no event in San Jose."

Toronto marijuana dispensary raided after media interview about how it's 'totally illegal'

Raid comes on the heels of owners' interview with VICE.

Toronto police raided a marijuana lounge on the Danforth Thursday, a little more than a week after its owners were featured in a media interview that touted their business as “totally illegal.”

Chris and Erin Goodwin, operators of the Good Weeds Lounge, have been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, relating to marijuana and cannabis resin, plus possession of the proceeds of crime. Erin Goodwin was also charged with simple possession.

The investigation was sparked by “community complaints,” Const. Caroline de Kloet told Metro.

E-cigarette traders in Gloucester are the latest to warn against dangers of 'vaping' cannabis oil

Young people have been warned – do not use cannabis oil in e-cigarettes.

An 18-year-old woman is on the road to recovery after police suspect she tried to consume the substance using a vaporiser.

She was left in a 'serious condition' and was rushed to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Friday.

Police believe the teenager purchased cannabidiol online, a cannabis derivative.

Arif Ali, who works at Vape King, which specialises in e-cigarettes in the market in Easthate Shopping Centre, said: "Many people think that these liquids are on the same level as vape liquids but they are totally different.

"There needs to be more awareness of the differences between the liquids.

Northwest Marijuana Growers Try To Go Green (But It's Hard)

Marijuana growers in the Northwest are going to use a lot of electricity in the next 20 years, enough to power up to 200,000 homes, according to a recent forecast.

That’s because a lighting module to grow four marijuana plants takes as much energy as 29 refrigerators.

After some hesitation, Washington utilities are now rewarding marijuana growers for reducing their energy use.

Cannabis legalization in Canada is about much more than the plant

There is an ugly trend that exists in society today, and it is affecting all of us. Revenue from natural resources, industry, agriculture, and more, is increasingly being leveraged away from the average Canadian and into the bank accounts of the wealthiest among us.

Our legislators must now decide if they will take the multi-billion dollar cannabis industry in the same direction, or if they will allow entrepreneurship and a world-renowned industry to continue growing and maturing, as it has been doing for decades.

Under Canada’s Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations—created by the former Conservative government—15 of 27 producer licences (56 percent) have been awarded to business based in Ontario. This is a radical reshaping of the industry.

The Owners of Toronto’s First Recreational Pot Shop Were Arrested During a Police Raid

The owners of Goodweeds Lounge, a newly opened recreational pot bar in Toronto's east end, have been charged with multiple trafficking and possession-related offences following a police raid that took place Thursday evening.

Chris and Erin Goodwin opened up the vapour lounge a few weeks ago where customers can purchase dabs and bong hits on site as long as they're aged 18 and older. No medical prescription is necessary.

But Toronto police confirmed they executed a search warrant at the venue, located at 940 Danforth Avenue, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act on Thursday evening.
