Australia: Shares in medical cannabis biotech MGC Pharmaceuticals spike in backdoor listing

Medical cannabis company MGC Pharmaceuticals completed its backdoor listing on the ASX today with a reverse takeover of Erin Resources. 

A short time ago, its shares were up 7.6% to $0.028.

The biotech startup has appointed Sydney cardiologist and media presenter Dr Ross Walker to its board to engage with the emerging medical cannabis market in Australia.

The company is also working with the University of Sydney business school for a white paper to advise governments on the creation of an medical cannabis industry.

Jamaica to accept applications for ganja licences on April 4

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) has announced that it will be ready to accept applications for ganja licences for Monday, April 4, 2016.

The regulations that will allow for the granting of licences have now been drafted and are currently being reviewed ahead of finalisation and approval, which is expected in the next two weeks, a news release from the Cannabis Licensing Authority said Monday.

The regulations, according to the release, will immediately allow for the publishing of application forms as well as the furnishing of information to potential licensees on eligibility criteria and the terms and conditions of licences.

Whether your favorite Girl Scout cookie is a Samoa, Tagalong, or Thin Mint, everyone knows their sugary goodness is the perfect cure for the munchies.

That’s what led one enterprising Girl Scout to sell her cookies outside a Portland pot shop this weekend in the hopes of raising enough money for a summer trip to horse camp.

Along with her aunt, the Girl Scout set up her cookie stand outside Foster Buds Marijuana Dispensary in Portland and quickly sold more than 35 boxes. According to KATU 2 News, customers started lining up almost immediately.

Legal indoor marijuana grows are consuming energy at an exorbitant rate, according to a recent report by a cannabis industry data provider.

While most of legalized marijuana's effects on communities are measured in terms of dollars and crime statistics, electricity usage is becoming an issue of growing concern among environmentalists and industry folk alike.
