If President Trump Wants Jobs, This Report Says He Should Leave Marijuana Alone

President Trump promised in his inauguration speech to create 25 million new jobs for Americans in the next decade. A new report indicates one way to help get to that goal is to allow states that have legalized marijuana to move forward uninterrupted.

New Frontier Data, which specializes in data analysis for the cannabis industry, recently published a report projecting that legalized marijuana will create close to 300,000 jobs over the next three years. But is this projection realistic?

Farmers in Italy fight soil contamination with cannabis

Farmers in a region of Italy once known for cheeses have turned to cultivating a type of cannabis -- not to smoke or sell -- but to decontaminate polluted soil.

The hemp they’re growing contains very little THC -- the compound that makes people high.

Vincenzo Fornaro showed CBS News an empty farm, once packed with more than 600 sheep.

“For generations, our family produced ricotta and meat,” Fornaro recalled.

It wasn’t until 2008 when Italy’s government discovered the toxic chemical dioxin in his sheep and slaughtered the entire herd.  The culprit was just a mile away.

Ohio: Revised rules allow 50% more medical marijuana shops, prohibit home delivery

Sometime next year, Ohioans will be able to visit any of 60 medical marijuana shops open up to 14 hours a day.

They will be able to buy plant material to vaporize and inhale, plus marijuana-infused oils, tinctures, edibles and patches.

There are still some no-nos. Home delivery of pot will not be permitted, smoking and home-growing are not allowed, and your favorite local marijuana shop won't be allowed to sell you a T-shirt.

But the Buckeye State's foray into marijuana for medical purposes is well underway six months after the law took effect.

The dangerous behaviors of teens who use fake weed

The synthetic cannabinoids often called "fake weed" are a mix of chemicals sprinkled on what looks like incense and sold in shiny packages, often to teens and young adults.

It produces sensations similar to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient in the cannabis plant, yet many users report more powerful, often dangerous effects.

New research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says young people who use fake weed are also more likely to use other drugs or alcohol, to behave violently and to have high-risk sex, according to a study published Monday in the journal Pediatrics.

The Canadian Correction: We Called It

On the last day of February, as valuations were looking frothy, we sounded the alarm on Canadian cannabis stocks and decreased our leverage to the sector.

Although this decision did not initially sit well with Technical420 Premium Members, those who listened were quite pleased. As we did not completely exit the Canadian cannabis sector, we were able to realize gains on our largest holdings (Aphria, Canopy, OrganiGram and Aurora).

When this decision was announced, we highlighted our intention to re-invest in these companies and explained that these moves were part of our overall investing strategy (i.e. accepting gains over 100% or greater).
