Publicly Traded Marijuana Companies: Buyer Buzzkill

In Spring 2014, the Securities and Exchange Commission suspended trading in several publicly traded marijuana companies, including FusionPharm, Inc., Cannabusiness Group, Inc., GrowLife, Inc., Advanced Cannabis Solutions, Inc., and Petrotech Oil and Gas, Inc. In addition to those suspensions, the SEC issued a warning regarding investments in publicly traded marijuana-related stocks. Focus: Medical marijuana continues to be source of litigation

There has been one constant since the Ontario Court of Appeal struck down the prohibition against possession of marijuana for medical reasons in 2000: the subsequent rules imposed by the federal government have been subject to repeated court challenges. Hemp Staff, a Florida-based company that aims to educate, certify and assist jobseekers in the medicinal marijuana industry, hosted two sold-out budtender training and certification sessions Saturday morning and afternoon at the hotel in Rosemont.

After legalization, marijuana events fighting for a foothold in Portland

People ambled through the Oregon Hemp Convention on Friday, casually inspecting colorful glass bongs and trying samples of rice crispy treats and chocolates, chatting with vendors about growing marijuana plants at home and extracting cannabis oil safely.

Our more relaxed attitude toward marijuana is nothing new, but this was all still a bit surreal.

But as Oregon eases into recreational marijuana, bigger festivals and conventions like this weekend's event should become the norm, popping up throughout the year at venues in and around Portland.

RX Green is the name of the startup company with just a handful of employees. And it’s been awhile in the making.

At one time, Meacham had planned to manufacture the patches at the old Poppies Bistro Cafe building at 834 W. Hallam St., but that deal fell through, leading him to find a spot in the Buckhorn Arms building.
