Higher Ground: Checking Your White Privilege

Drug laws don’t affect everyone equally.

It’s good to be white.

For example, as a white guy, I’m statistically more likely to be selling drugs than an African-American man. (I’ve always been too scared of going to jail to actually sell pot, but I’m using this to make my point.) If I were black, however, it would be three times more likely that I’d be arrested for dealing. It gets even better for whitey. Though five times as many of us use drugs, African-Americans are sent to prison 10 times as often for the same crimes. And once ya get to jail? On average, African-Americans serve as much time in prisons for drug offenses (58 months) as white folks do for violent ones (62 months).

Eleven reasons why legalization is good for Saxony-Anhalt

Experience in the US to relax the strict cannabis prohibition, show that fears are unfounded. Eleven Reasons Why Saxony-Anhalt would benefit from cannabis legalization vigorously.

Sometimes there are 1,800 plants in the former railway station in Fischbeck, then 2,100 plants in the former administrative building of the Telekom in Stendal. Hardly a week goes by without a detail of police somewhere in the country uncovering a more or less large cannabis plantation - At the same time more and more voices in the political landscape are calling for a release of marijuana under controlled conditions.

Idea For San Jose Company's Marijuana-Infused Coffee Prompted By Trip To Amsterdam

Marijuana enthusiasts can now drink their bud with breakfast, thanks to a San Jose company.

Jill Amen runs House Of Jane, a premium marijuana-coffee and tea company out of San Jose. She started testing out her ideas in the kitchen after a trip to Amsterdam.

“You will taste a gourmet cup of coffee or tea, organic, fair-trade and locally roasted,” Amen said.

Since launching the product five months ago, the K-cup servings are in high demand.

Workers at the company’s processing centers package up to 1,400 K-cups, and 700 bags of marijuana-infused teas per day.

15 Reasons Why Your Cannabis Website Probably Sucks

By Studio 420

You see them all the time. You come across one and think, how in the world is this even possible? Sometimes it’s a $1 million business and sometimes it’s a $50,000 business.

I’m talking about marijuana dispensaries websites. I’m talking about the ones that really suck.

Like most of you, I visit marijuana industry related websites on a daily basis. And, every day, I’m amazed at what I see, not because of all the awesomeness, but rather because of all the CRAP I see out there!

So, for all those “crappy” cannabis website owners out there (you know who you are), here are 15 reasons why your website sucks.

Hypothetically, Here's What Might Happen to Marijuana Prices if it Were Legalized

Over the last two decades marijuana has practically been an unstoppable force.

Since 1995, 23 states have legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes, while four states (along with Washington D.C.) have legalized all aspects of marijuana, including its recreational use for adults. Even in states where marijuana failed to gain approval initially, such as Oregon, the proverbial scales were tipped in favor of supporters just a few short years later.

There is a crazy theory going around Prague that says Google will acquire Twitter

About 1,000 social media executives from around the world attended the Engage 2015 conference in Prague last week, hosted by Socialbakers, the big Czech startup that handles a huge chunk of Facebook's international marketing clients.

Outside the main conference sessions much of the chatter among attendees was about whether Facebook or Google was more powerful in terms of reaching the audiences they need. Both have audiences in the billions, but Facebook seems to be innovating faster than Google right now.

There was less talk about Twitter.

Post-Legalization Many Blacks Say 'No' To The Marijuana Industry

It's not surprising that many African Americans are leery about cashing in on the legal cannabis industry. Numerous reports show that the black community continues to pay a high price for it in the criminal justice system even where marijuana is legal.

Decision hanging over medical marijuana facility

The governing council of the Rural Municipality of Wilton has an interesting proposal on their plate, following a public hearing that was held by the council on Thursday.

The topic of the hearing was an application by representatives of Agro Greens Natural Products Ltd, who are seeking the approval of a development application for a medical marijuana facility.

According to Glen Dow, reeve of the RM, the owners of the business approached council six months earlier, and asked about the council’s possible reaction to the business proposal.

“They stopped in and said ‘we’re considering this, does council have any absolute prohibitions to say get out of here, don’t ever come back?’”

“Council said no,” said Dow.

Three Skills CEOs Need Most

As part of the exploratory dialogue for one of my recent executive coaching assignments, a C-level executive of a decades-old business frankly admitted, “I don’t think I have the skills to lead the business to the next level.”

In his late thirties, the CEO in question had successfully led his organization to profitability from the brink of disaster in less than five years (after an experiment with professional management did not yield the desired result). By all accounts, he was a dynamic, motivated and purpose-driven leader with aspirations to build a great institution. He was skilled at empowering people and willing to give them space to operate. And yet, he was mired by self-limiting beliefs.

I probed him with the following two questions:

New York: Deadline for medical marijuana license rapidly approaching

Time is quickly running out for those looking to get their medical marijuana licenses.

Getting a medical marijuana license is going to be very competitive since only five will be approved.

Each of the five applicants will be limited to four dispensaries each.

Dispensaries must be located in multiple counties across the state, but it comes with several more challenges. Even if a business is approved and licensed, it will have to find a location and get local approval before building the facility.

Etain is just one of the many companies who is looking to grow in Chester, but wants to dispense in Queensbury, and now, Albany could be next on their list.
