Earnings season has started to kick into high gear after the world’s largest technology companies reported quarterly financial results and the trend so far has not been pretty.

Later this month, several leading North American cannabis companies will report quarterly financial results and we will be monitoring trading activity prior to these releases.  So far, smaller Canadian cannabis producers and retailers have reported earnings and the market has not responded favorably to the results. Going forward, we expect the trend to remain volatile for North American cannabis companies and below, have highlighted 5 operators that already reported and or will announce earnings soon. (Technical 420)

  1. Canopy Growth Corporation (TSX: WEED) (Nasdaq: CGC): Will report quarterly earnings in a few weeks and recently released a plan to accelerate its path to profitability via a series of strategic initiatives
  2. Aurora Cannabis Inc.  (TSX: ACB) (Nasdaq: ACB): The earnings report is typically published around the time that Canopy Growth releases financial results and we continue to be cautious with the business. We consider 2022 to be a make or break year for the Canadian cannabis producer and prefer other operators to it
  3. Organigram Holdings Inc. (TSX: OGI) (Nasdaq: OGI): Reported quarterly financial results in April and the market initially responded positively to the numbers. Organigram has fallen 20% from its post-earnings high and we believe this provided insight on how the market will respond to earnings from other cannabis operators
  4. Indiva Limited (TSX Venture: NDVA) (OTCQX: NDVAF): Last week, the leading Canadian edible operator reported fourth quarter financial results and has been trading in a mixed pattern since. The company has the most market share of the Canadian cannabis edible vertical and we are bullish on this aspect of the story
  5. Village Farms International, Inc. (TSX: VFF) (Nasdaq: VFF): Will report first quarter financial results on May 10th and the management team will answer questions from analysts on a post-earnings conference call

During the last month, the cannabis sector has been recorded volatile price movements and we will continue to closely follow the performance of it. With earnings season starting to heat up, we are working to identify operators that are trading for a discount when compared to its peers. (Click here to view entire article)
