Walk-in clinics at Walmart will soon be able to help patients with medical questions about cannabis.

Leafly reports Spectrum Therapeutics, the medical division of Canopy Growth and Tree of Knowledge, a biomedical company focused on cannabis products, are teaming up to provide online cannabis courses at Jack Nathan Health, a Tree of Knowledge clinic.

The two-year training trial will incorporate online modules, webinars and feature a variety of medical experts who will discuss topics like dosing, prescriptions and pain management.

Patients will also be able to watch animated videos with information and access a journal entry tool to monitor how much marijuana they use per day.

The partnership may prove to be beneficial due to the inconsistent training healthcare experts get related to cannabis.

“The education for doctors on medical cannabis is still very limited,” Dr. Kevin Rod, director at Tree of Knowledge told Leafly.

“Health Canada has resources that are mostly focused on research findings. The College of Family Physicians of Canada has provided a guide for physicians which needs to be updated and adapted to new products and modes of delivery. The provincial colleges, like the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, have provided some practical guidelines on prescribing, but there is still a large room left for further educating physicians on this subject, which is one of the pillars of our focus and activity.”

The clinics in 74 of the 400 stores in Canada serve about 1.5 million people yearly.
