Vaping Vs. Smoking Cannabis – You’ll Be Shocked at The Differences

With vaping numbers on the increase, it is important to understand the differences between vaping and smoking cannabis. It could be an argument that rumbles on for decades but is vaping cannabis healthier and better than smoking. There are eight reasons that say it is…

#1 Vaping gives you more

When it comes to vaping, whether it is dry leaf or oil, temperature is important. Essentially, anyone vaping wants to maximize flavor.

Smoking can burn the herb and singe the oil simply because you don’t have enough control over the temperature.

Vaping acts differently as it burns off the essential oils and cannabinoids ready for inhalation but does so without combustion, a healthier way of using cannabis or so say several experts.

#2 Vaping herbs can be safer…

… but vaping oils can still present a problem. Vaporization say experts, is the safer alternative to smoking, but not all vaporization is the same.

With a good herb vaporized correctly at 350F, the cannabinoids are inhaled with little or no side products of combustion.

Vaporizing oil, however, is different simply because some manufacturers will add additives and other chemicals. The message is simple – vaping dry herbs is safer alternative than oils.

#3 Vaping can be more consistent

Whether you use a portable vaporizer or a desktop vaporizer such as the Volcano Vaporizer, there is more consistency in the final product that when smoking cannabis.

Between each batch of herb, there is much more variation and with vaping, you get a much more consistent result. Because a dry herb vaporizer, portable or desktop, can have its settings customized, the final product tends to be much more consistent.

#4 Vape smoke tends to be lighter

But of course, vape ‘smoke’ is not smoke at all but vapor. There are noticeable differences in what a user inhales. For example, the lighter flavor and odor is consistent with use a portable pen vaporizer such as the Linx Ares than the sometimes-heady hit of a joint. Vaping doesn’t involve combustion and that makes it easier on the lungs. This alone, say many users, is the reason why they see healthy vaping as a genuine alternative to smoking.

#5 No combustion with vaping

When smoking a joint in the traditional way, a user is burning a plant and all the other chemicals in it. There is also the thin paper of the rolled joint being burnt and inhaled too.

Combustion happens between 600 and 900C whereas the heat in a pen vaporizer or desktop vaporizer is around 160 to 230C, considerably less.

And combustion is known to produce toxins that can lead to problems with breathing, such as bronchitis. With vaping, the by-products and toxins have proven not to be as pungent and therefore, not so much a threat to the health of the user.

#6 Smoking irritates the lungs

We know that smoking, either a joint or tobacco or any other substance, irritates the lungs. And it is now proven that it does more damage than vaping.

It is the mix of chemicals as well as the heat of the smoke hitting the lungs that appears to cause all kinds of respiratory issues, from coughing to wheezing and bronchitis type symptoms.

#7 Vaping gives a better experience

Not every person who vapes now will have smoked but for many users who have smoked joints, the vaping experience is one that they describe as giving a better experience.

Vaporization is kinder to the dry herbs in some ways and what this means is that the user is actually getting more from the herb.

When using a pen vaporizer, for example, the user is inhaling an oil that contains mostly cannabinoids. This gives a purer flavor and a much better taste. For many people who vape, this gentler process sees them get more the dry herb and this is not a bad thing.

#8 Reduce waste

There are also many veteran vapers who believe that vaping is a far more economical means of using dry herbs too.

In fact, some people suggest that up to 50% of the cannabis is lost through sidestream smoke. When it comes to pen or desktop vaporizers, the waste is minimal.

In fact, many leading vape pens and desktop vaporizer manufacturers make it part of their product design and development that as little of the herb is wasted as possible.

Heated in an enclosed chamber, little is lost and for the user, that means getting more for every ounce of dry flower that they vape.

But if you want a quick hit, you may assume that smoking a joint is the way forward, but the answer seems not. A hit can start to register within 90 seconds, especially if you use a well-designed and easy to use device such as the Pax 3 or the Volcano Vaporizer.

Vaping is a method more people are using to release the flavor and pleasure in cannabis. What do you think makes for healthy vaping?
