As our industry moves forward, a critical change will be the role of testing. In order to give Lift readers a better understanding of the Quality Assurance andcannabis testing practices that are required under Canada’s MMPR legislation, we’ve enlisted the help of Emily Kirkham, VP of Laboratory Operations at Signoto.

Part 3: Pesticides 

Since Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring debuted in 1962, the word “pesticide” has become associated with damaging andnegative connotations. However, by definition, pesticides are not inherently negative, in fact they are: chemical or biological compounds that will deter, disable or otherwise discourage pests such as insects and weeds [1]. They have widespread use in many agricultural applications, including cannabis production. While pesticides have many advantages for growers, the main concern for cannabis users is the potential health risks associated with consumption by inhalation or other means.
