Is marijuana really the wonder-drug we make it out to be?

Yes, marijuana has curative properties - that's indisputable. But are we over-hyping it, have we attributed to much weight to the term "medical marijuana"? Have we convinced ourselves that cannabinoids have more corrective capabilities than they actually do? If they haven't, we're doing ourselves an incredible disservice. 

Before we begin, I think it's important to reiterate that marijuana does have undeniable, irrefutable, unassailable medicinal applications. Marijuana is medicine. We have 5,000 years of documented history pointing towards this. At no point do I want you to think I'm arguing otherwise. What I want to discuss is whether we're taking it too far, anchoring our reliance on the inherent unobtainable nature of a wonder drug. Can cannabinoids meet our expectations in the coliseum of curative chemicals?

The carrot and stick nature of news media means we will unquestioningly follow certain narratives undeterred. We want to be believe so much, that we will believe it without checking facts, statistics and sources. Often times we will believe...
