Is The Manhattan Marijuana Model For Us? - THC

New York legislature and Governor Cuomo have now “legalised medical marijuana. It will take 18 months to set up the programme” and there are the inevitable conditions associated with it.

The Manhattan Model is as follows:

  1. Patients must have a severely-debilitating or life-threatening disease. These are Cancer, HIV/AIDs, Lou Garigs disease, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, damage to spinal nerves, epilepsy, inflammatory disease, neuropathies, and Huntington’s disease.

  2. Doctors and others must report patients to Dept of Health, who issue ID cards.

  3. Many organizations such as pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes, health centres, hospices etc may dispense the marijuana, but you must present your ID card.

  4. Marijuana, as such, may NOT BE SMOKED, but extracts may be used in vaporizers or in edibles.

  5. Patients and caregivers may have 2.5 ounces of marijuana at any given time.
